1st Scenario: The Gambler
My partner, Austin, and myself have started working on the scenarios that our narrative game will have. Here, the Shadow King has decided to bargain with someone in exchange for their soul. An alternate scenario will be shown in the near future.
King of the Shadow Realm Scenarios
1. Scenario 1: Yong the Gambler
(Nazaru opens a portal to a jewelry store)
Nazaru: Hello, Yong!
Yong: (Yong took a few moments to gaze at the tall stranger. He saw the red mask that had pupil-less orange eyes surrounded by black painting. A dozen gold dots where a person’s left eyebrow should be, separated into 2 rows that went down to his cheeks. The orange lines on his forehead that had a green dot over it. His fangs that was as long and sharp as knives. He gazed as his body that was as black as the void and the tendrils surrounding his waist, as well as golden claws and on his hands and feet. Finally he noticed the katana with an ebony blade. Yong had finally realized, he was in the presence of the Shadow King…Nazaru.) You! Please my family isn't causing you any trouble! What business can you have with me?
Nazaru: I've noticed that while your family has been away, you've been going to the nearby parlor and gamble for hours. But you keep losing, and have to sell your house in a matters of days.
Yong: How could you possibly know this?
Nazaru: I may not be omniscient, but there is no sinful deed, past, present, or future that I don’t know about. But that’s not important. I’ve come to offer a resolution. I will make sure you family’s debts are paid and that they gain wealth and prestige.
Yong: What will you want in return?
Nazaru: The one of thing you have that is valuable to me…your soul.
Yong: You ask too much of me. How will my family survive without me? How will they go on when you take me to your dark kingdom?
Nazaru: With the wealth I provide them, your family will thrive and prosper for the next 100 generations. And whatever fate awaits you in the next life is no less than you deserve. But if you feel self-preservation is more important than your family’s wellbeing, then I won’t waste time on this any further.
Yong: Wait, King Nazaru! I-
Scenario 1A: Make a Deal
Nazaru: Speak, mortal! Quickly!
Yong: I agree to your terms. I allowed my greed to ruin my family. It’s time I did right by them.
Nazaru: A wise decision. We have a bargain then. Place your hand on my sword. (Yong places hand on the black bladed katana) And now the deal is official.
Yong: But how will you get the money, and won’t my family find it strange if I just disappear.
Nazaru: Money is no object to me, nor it should it be to you. Your family will be wealthy, that is all you need to know. As for your untimely demise, you will leave a note telling your family that you heard rumor of great treasure within a cavern that once belonged to bandits. They will believe the coin came from there, and you will be reported dead due to some accident.
(Yong writes the note just as Nazaru instructed, and leaves it on the table)
Nazaru: Excellent. Now go to the cave in the south west. My sister, Kori, will meet you there and take care of the rest.
(The Shadow King disappears and Yong leaves to meet his fate. As promised, his family had obtained great wealth. Over the years, Yong’s family grew in status, and even joined other families into nobility. Though Yong’s demise was tragic, his family was grateful for what he let behind.)
Scenario 1B: Takes Soul
Nazaru: (Stabs Yong in the heart) I’m no longer in the mood to negotiate. You’re a sinful soul, no one will refute my right to it.
(Yong’s soul flows into the Shadow Sword and his body lays on the ground lifeless)
(Suddenly, Nazaru sees a little girl, no more than 9 years old, peeking from the corner of her room. He deduces that she’s poor man’s daughter, but decides to take her leave)
Kori: (Walks outside with Nazaru) Do you think it was wise to leave the girl be? Surely she will desire vengeance.
Nazaru: Our kingdom is on the brink of civil war and collapse. The hatred of a child is insignificant in comparison. And she is young, she may forget what transpired.
(Yong’s daughter was given to a temple when her mother could no longer take care of her. For the next 14 years, she became an exceptional priestess with astonishing spiritual power. After completing her training, she set off to confront Nazaru to avenge her family
